Ashgabat will host an international forum, "Turkmenistan Oil & Gas," from October 25-27, 2023, to expand opportunities for foreign direct investment.
The organizers are national oil and gas state concerns with the support of British company GaffneyCline.
The press release notes that the national laws "On Hydrocarbon Resources", "On Foreign Exchange Regulation" and "On Foreign Investments" are aimed at attracting long-term foreign investments and ensuring reliable legal protection of investments and their return.
Turkmenistan is a major player in the energy market in Asia, with hydrocarbon resources exceeding 71bn tonnes of oil equivalent, which is more than 20bn tonnes of oil and over 50tn cubic metres of natural gas.
Turkmenistan has the world's fourth largest proven natural gas reserves after Russia, Iran and Qatar. China is currently the largest buyer of Turkmen natural gas. Deliveries are also made to Azerbaijan (via Iran), Russia and Uzbekistan.
