During an official visit to Baku, Alikhan Smailov, the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan, met with Ali Asadov, the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan, to discuss enhancing trade, logistics, and energy cooperation between their respective countries.
Alikhan Smailov conveyed greetings from the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and extended congratulations to the Azerbaijani people on the 100th anniversary of Heydar Aliyev during his meeting with President Ilham Aliyev.
Reportedly, the two sides intend to boost the bilateral trade to $1bn and signed ten documents outlining bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics, digitalization, tourism, sports, culture, and other areas.
Besides, they have outlined plans to boost mutual trade by expanding deliveries of 100 commodity items and developing the potential of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route.
The nations also intend to augment the frequency of weekly flights from the previous 32 to 42.
The Prime Ministers expressed their confidence that the bilateral agreements will result in increased trade, new business opportunities, and joint large-scale projects in the energy, transport, and other sectors.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Deputy Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Bobur Usmanov shared that Tashkent and Baku have plans to increase their bilateral trade volume to $1bn. Farid Shafiyev, Chairman of the Board at the Center of Analysis of International Relations, highlighted the priority of Azerbaijan's cooperation with Central Asian countries. Shafiyev also mentioned that in 2022, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan paid three visits to Uzbekistan.
