On May 3, Shavkat Mirziyoyev and German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier met in Berlin's Bellevue Palace, his press service reports.
Mirziyoyev extended gratitude to Steinmeier for the invitation and kind greeting in Germany. Both leaders recognized the expansion of the two countries' complex partnerships in political, humanitarian, and business areas, as well as in highly regarded international institutions such as the United Nations.
They decided to raise bilateral ties to a greater degree while discussing expanding commercial, economic, investment, and technological cooperation. The number of cooperative initiatives and commercial exchanges between the nations has more than quadrupled in recent years, and German funding in Uzbekistan's economy has totaled €5.5bn, with €4bn spent in the previous few years. They also inked trade and investment-technology deals worth more than €9bn.
The leaders praised Uzbekistan's efforts to preserve Central Asian security and development, and they discussed the prospect of Germany funding connectivity developments in the area under the EU's "Global Gateway" program. Given the circumstances in the region, notably in Afghanistan, they voiced a desire to further collaboration in the fields of security and combating contemporary threats and dangers.
They emphasized the significance of delivering targeted humanitarian relief to Afghans while capitalizing on contemporary infrastructural prospects developed in the border city of Termez. The presidents also discussed cultural and humanitarian exchanges, expressing delight that an exceptional exhibition displaying Uzbekistan's historical and cultural legacy will open in Berlin.
They also decided to create an extensive curriculum for studying German in Uzbekistan, including expanding the Goethe Institute's work in the country's provinces. Mirziyoyev encouraged Steinmeier to visit Uzbekistan at the end of the conference.
