Turkmenistan will celebrate Kurban Bayram (Eid al-Eid al-Adha) from June 28-30, 2023, which is a holiday, according to local TV channel Altyn Asyr.
The country began celebrating this Muslim holiday after it gained independence.
On these days, it is customary to give alms and treat family and friends. On the first day, all mosques in Turkmenistan will hold a holy Kurban-ayat prayer and sacrifice ritual.
Music and lively trade will be heard on the streets, and high swings will be set up in crowded places as a "symbol of purification".
According to the lunar calendar, Eid al-Adha begins 71 days after the end of the great Muslim fasting period, Oraza, and coincides with the end of the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina.
