The delegations of Turkmenistan and Afghanistan recently held online talks to discuss the development of cooperation on transit freight traffic through the Afghan territory, the agency "Turkmenavtoulaglary" (Turkmenautotransport) reports.
The parties discussed the export of Turkmenistan's oil and gas products via this route.
The meeting was attended by diplomats and officials of the trade, oil and gas, transport, customs, and border departments of the two countries.
Daryo previously wrote that in early May, the first consignment of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) from Turkmenistan arrived in Pakistan through the Afghan province of Kandahar. This South Asian country is experiencing an acute shortage of this fuel type and is seeking to diversify its supplies, mostly from Iran.
Ashgabat and Kabul are also interested in developing the Lapis Lazuli transport project along the Afghanistan-Turkmenistan-Caucasus-Turkey-Europe route.
Turkmenistan is actively involved in constructing railway infrastructure in Afghanistan while promoting a transit project to Tajikistan, which is connected with the Asia-Pacific region.
