Ukrainian company Altcom is involved in the construction of a road bridge across the Garabogaz Bay near the Turkmen-Kazakh border, a representative of the state concern Turkmenawtoyollary (Turkmen Highways) told Daryo.
The project, scheduled for completion in a year, will improve the efficiency of freight traffic between Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Russia, Iran and India, providing one of the shortest routes to Europe.
The bridge set to be about 300-400m long and will, among other things, optimise the transport of mineral fertilisers and other products from the newly built industrial cluster in the western region of Turkmenistan.
The project is part of a major reconstruction of the 225-km long Turkmenbashi - Garabogaz - Kazakhstan state highway, which will be connected to the Turkmenbashi - Ashgabat highway.
A motel, service centres, bus stops and automated cargo control systems will be built along this route.
