Turkmenistan is set to test a new system for emergency calls to a single emergency number, 123, according to local TV channel Altyn Asyr.
The single-call system will be implemented in the new city of Arkadag, near the Turkmen capital.
Previously, the country had relied on a system inherited from the Soviet Union (such as 03 for the ambulance and 01 for the fire department).
"The introduction of this system in residences and other establishments will ensure a peaceful and happy life of the population, as the digital system will keep everything under control".
Experts told Daryo that using single emergency numbers such as 112, 123, or 991 had been proven effective globally in locating those needing assistance and accessing their medical records if they require hospitalization.
