A group of people has been caught in the Chilanzar district of Tashkent for trying to sell counterfeit currency worth $6,000 for UZS 45.6mn.
According to the Department for Combating Economic Crimes under the General Prosecutor’s Office of Uzbekistan, the suspects were found guilty and had previous criminal records. At the time of the transaction, physical evidence was found with them.
The suspects have been charged under Article 176 of the Criminal Code, which deals with producing and selling counterfeit money, excise stamps, or securities. An investigation into the matter is currently underway.
Furthermore, it has been reported that an individual was arrested the previous day in the Chilanzar district for producing and selling counterfeit sumy banknotes worth UZS 200,000.
