Uzbekistan’s transport minister on the sidelines of the Uzbek-Chinese Business Forum said that Uzbek citizens have already begun to notice cooperation with China.
The event was held in Xi'an, China on May 17 and attended by 400 large Chinese companies aiming at collaboration with Uzbekistan. Minister Ilkham Makhkamov gave an interview about the agreements reached at the forum and achievements on various projects.
"We are currently signing contracts with a number of Chinese transport logistics companies. These companies not only provide exchange or transport services through Uzbekistan, but also create joint ventures and logistics centers there", the minister noted.
He added that this year, some 1,000 buses would be delivered to Tashkent, of which 600 have already been delivered to date, and the remaining 400 are planned for the end of May. Official said that in a 2-month period, Samarkand and Nukus will be provided with 100 buses each as well.
Commenting on the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway project, he said: "Today China has become the largest producer of goods in the world and exports its products to many countries. In this regard, the main goal for our country is to become a transit state or a bridge for goods entering China through Uzbekistan".
