On May 17, Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the 32nd annual meeting of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in Samarkand, his press service informs.
Expressing gratitude for the meeting being held in Samarkand, Mirziyoyev highlighted the significant changes and reforms implemented in Uzbekistan over the past 20 years. The EBRD has been a strategic partner in Uzbekistan's reform program, with a project portfolio exceeding €4bn euros, including €3.3bn euros in projects initiated in the last four years.
Mirziyoyev emphasized key areas of cooperation with international organizations and the EBRD, such as privatization, public-private partnerships, infrastructure, healthcare, education, transportation, ecology, green economy, women's entrepreneurship, agro-technology, water conservation, and food security. He announced plans to implement new projects and programs in collaboration with the bank and invited them to engage in regional cooperation with neighboring countries.
During the meeting, an investment presentation showcased the business sector's vast opportunities in Uzbekistan. Additionally, over 40 major public-private partnership projects in healthcare, education, infrastructure, transportation, and energy were presented. The Samarkand Summit of the EBRD concluded on May 18.
