Dmitry Medvedev, the former president of Russia and current deputy chairman of the Security Council, has been reported as calling for the assassination of the Ukrainian leader, Zelensky.
Medvedev made the statement on his Telegram channel in response to the recent drone attack on the Kremlin. He argued that Russia had no choice but to "physically destroy Zelensky and his cabin" following the attack, adding that a replacement leader would always be found if necessary.
The attack on the Kremlin reportedly took place on May 3rd and involved two drones being aimed at the residence of Russian President Putin. Fortunately, the devices were disabled by the military and special services before any damage could be done. However, the incident was called a planned act of terrorism and an attempt to assassinate the president.
In response to the allegations, Zelensky's spokesman denied Ukraine's involvement in the attack and emphasized that Ukraine's priority was the liberation of its territories, not attacking others. Zelensky himself stated that Ukraine was fighting to defend its territory and would not attack Putin or Moscow.
The situation highlights the ongoing tensions between Russia and Ukraine, as well as the potential for violence and conflict in the region. It is important for diplomatic efforts to continue in order to prevent further escalation and to promote a peaceful resolution to the conflict.
