Uzbekistan is the main ally and partner for the export of the labor force for Kazakhstan, - Ilyas Ispanov, chairman of the Committee on Migration Issues of the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of Kazakhstan, informs.
He said that the committee divides labor migrants into 2 categories:
The first category includes highly qualified specialists. There are only 773 of them in the territory of Kazakhstan.
The second category consists of workers. These are citizens of Uzbekistan who are employed in construction facilities, seasonal work, and household work. Their number in the neighboring republic is 250,000.
"We have approved 297,000 quotas for 2023. 91% of them are citizens of Uzbekistan. Why does this happen? Firstly, the salary in these countries is lower than ours. Accordingly, there is competition, there is an opportunity to find a job in Kazakhstan.
In addition, a visa-free regime for 30 days has been introduced in Uzbekistan. Accordingly, they come here, find an employer, sign an employment contract, get a permit, and work for 3 months. The quota will be extended every 3 months," - said Ilyas Ispanov.
He also mentioned that it is planned to conclude a bilateral agreement between the two countries. This will help regulate the flow of illegal migrants.
