The largest distillery in Kyrgyzstan, Ayu, will be nationalized. This was stated by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov.
According to the Kyrgyz leader, AYU had been systematically smuggling its product evading tax payment.
The company also had forged excise stamps for more than 2 years before the law enforcement officers found 12,000 fake excises and confiscated 275 tons of smuggled alcoholic beverages worth about $460 000.
According to the Kyrgyz President, the Law demands the plant be confiscated and nationalized.
AYU headed by one of the richest businessmen of the Kyrgyz Republic - Sharshenbek Abdykerimov, had already been investigated back in 2020 for tax evasion.
