Russia has included Turkmenistan in the route of a cruise tour that will run for the first time on the Caspian Sea since August, the Association of Tour Operators (Russia) said.
The five-star Peter the Great liner, with a capacity of 310 passengers, will sail across the Caspian Sea on several routes. One of the longest (11 days/10 nights), provides for stops: Baku (Azerbaijan) - Bandar Anzali (Iran) - Nowshehr (Iran) - Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) - Aktau (Kazakhstan) - Astrakhan - Makhachkala/Derbent - Baku.
"This is our unique offer in the market, as no country in the Caspian region now has a tourist fleet that can make international voyages," says Svetlana Goncharova, development director of cruise company Mosturflot.
The flagship cruise service on the Caspian is a floating hotel with panoramic restaurants, swimming pools, cinemas, a spa, and a gym. All rooms have balconies.
A source in Turkmenistan's tourism business told Daryo that tourists on this cruise could visit the Awaza resort, which can accommodate 5,000 guests at a time.
"There is also a congress hall, yacht clubs, a water park, sports stadiums, and shopping centers".
The local authorities plan to introduce a special simplified visa regime for foreigners visiting the seaside area.
