More than 5,000 Uzbekistan nationals who refused to pay alimony to their minor children were sentenced to administrative prison in 2021, and in 2022, this figure climbed to 8,700.
However, fines or prison terms for non-payment of alimony do not benefit the child who receives child support. On the contrary, the person’s funds will be charged for a fine, or the person will be imprisoned and deprived of the opportunity to earn and pay alimony for fifteen days.
In this regard, a new type of administrative punishment, compulsory involvement in paid community service, is introduced into the law to prevent this situation.
Equal half of the salary of the person who did not pay alimony is given to the alimony recipient.
