The State Security Service in Tashkent has prevented the transit of nearly 40kgs of narcotic drugs in a special unit operation, UzA reports.
Two citizens of Uzbekistan and two nationals from Tajikistan and Kazakhstan were arrested during the operation, and 12.8kgs of opium and 27kgs of 50 grams of hashish narcotics were seized in a procedural order.
The suspected criminals tried to escape from the incident scene, disobeying the security service employees' legal requirements.
The drugs in question were estimated to be smuggled into Uzbekistan for further export to another country.
A criminal investigation has been initiated against these citizens by the Investigative Department under the relevant articles of the Criminal Code.
The news about another criminal group engaged in drug trafficking in the Navoi region, the arrest of students involved in drug trafficking in Tashkent, and the arrest of suspects attempting to sell drugs for $10,000 in a nightclub in Samarkand have been previously reported.
