A citizen who introduced himself as a "lieutenant" was detained in the Fergana region, the Ministry of Internal Affairs press service has reported.
It turned out that the man was an experienced fraudster. Having dressed up in the uniform of a police officer, he went to a consumer services store and stole a mobile phone worth UZS 1.8mn ($158).
But the fake lieutenant did not stop there; he continued to steal; this time, 2 kg of meat, money, and a telephone were on the list of stolen goods.
A criminal case has been initiated under paragraph "a" of part 3 of Article 169 (theft) of the Criminal Code. Investigations are underway.
