Uzbekistan's Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade (MIIT) on February 9 held bilateral talks with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United Kingdom to the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tim Torlot. Experts from the British Department for Business and Trade (DBT), as part of the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the World Trade Organization (WTO), MITT reported on February 10.
Reportedly, the negotiations were attended by members of the Negotiating Group on Uzbekistan's accession to the WTO, as well as representatives of the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Committee for Customs, and the Committee for Antimonopoly of Uzbekistan.
'At the meeting, the British side was informed in detail about the work done by the Uzbek side on joining the Organization, particularly on preparations for the next 6th meeting of the Working Group on the Accession of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the WTO. In addition, answers were given to questions of interest to the UK experts on all documents submitted by Uzbekistan.
At the same time, promising areas of cooperation within the framework of the implementation of the technical assistance project of the British side to the process of Uzbekistan's accession to the Organization were discussed.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed readiness to continue further active cooperation and take concrete joint measures to accelerate the process of bilateral negotiations, the message reads.
