Uzbekistan Airports has decided to build two new areas for passenger reception in P2 and P3 parking lots near the departure hall of Tashkent International Airport. This was reported by the information service of the airline.
According to reports, due to the rapid increase in the number of passengers, there is not enough space in the arrivals terminal for those who come to meet their relatives and friends. Chairman of Uzbekistan Airports joint-stock company Rano Jorayeva said that the arrival hall built in 2018 does not meet international standards, and there is no passenger waiting area.
"The 400 square meter area was too small for those who came to the airport every day to meet their loved ones. A large number of people caused inconvenience both for the greeters and for the passengers who had to pass through the busy corridor. There have been many complaints from passengers and security services. We have been working on a new welcome area project. But we realized that a single building will not significantly change the situation," Rano Jorayeva, Chairman of Uzbekistan Airports Joint Stock Company said.
By the end of March, two 1,400 square meter reception areas will be built soon – one instead of the existing canopies, and the other - in the P2 parking lot between the departure and arrival halls.
