Uzbekistan's Ministry of Energy on Tuesday (January 24) and Gazprom inked a roadmap for cooperation in the gas sector. The document provides for the working group that is set to examine the technical measures to implement gas transit through Central Asia – Center gas pipeline system through the territories of Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.
The main conditions for the supply of natural gas will be discussed after the working group completes its technical work.
‘It should be emphasized that the negotiations and the road map aim to deliver natural gas to the domestic market in the necessary quantities while fully preserving the ownership of the existing gas transportation system of Uzbekistan. In this case, there is no threat to the gas transportation system or to our sovereignty.
In the future, all work in this direction will be carried out while fully protecting the national interests of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the results will be constantly reported to the public,’ the Ministry said in a statement.
