Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Jamshid Khodjayev serving as a Co-Chairman of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan held talks with Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister Shahin Mustafayev. At the meeting, the two sides noted that the bilateral relations between the two countries are built on friendship and common moral values, pointing out the successful multifaceted cooperation.
The sides hailed the high-level political dialogue and close contacts between Azerbaijan and Uzbekistan. In this regard, they highlighted the importance of the state visit of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev to Uzbekistan in June 2022. This gave a powerful impetus to deepening and expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries.
Besides, the meeting reviewed the current state and prospects of trade ties. Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan intend to increase the volume of mutual trade to $1bn over the next five years.
It was agreed to hold a regular meeting of the Business Council and the first Forum of Regions of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan in Tashkent in early 2023 that will reflect on promising investment projects.
