Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan attach great importance to the bilateral legal relations as the judicial structures of the two countries effectively cooperate in this sphere. This was announced in a meeting held on Friday (December 16) in Baku, Azerbaijan that saw the Ministers of Justice of the two countries Fikret Mammadov (Azerbaijan) and Akbar Tashkulov (Uzbekistan).
According to Azerbaijan State News Agency (Azertag), Minister of Justice Fikret Mammadov in his remark recalled the visit of the First President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to Uzbekistan’s capital Tashkent in 1997, when the two Ministries of Justice inked a cooperation agreement. The Minister emphasized the key role of Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Shavkat Mirziyoyev in strengthening bilateral ties. Reportedly, a new Program on Cooperation inked between the two Ministries of Justice within the International Legal Forum ‘Tashkent Law Spring’ was successfully implemented last year.
In his turn, Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan Akbar Tashkulov thanked Azerbaijan for the warm welcome and highlighted that special importance has always been attached to relations with the brotherly people of Azerbaijan, as the current close contacts create wide opportunities for deepening cooperation between the Ministries of Justice.
