On December 22, Uzbekistan sent humanitarian aid loaded on nine special trucks to Afghanistan. At the ceremony of handing over the humanitarian aid, the governor of Balkh region, Mulla Muhammad Davud Muzammil, thanked Uzbekistan for this gesture of goodwill.
"We, the Afghan people, are very grateful that the Uzbek people are taking the lead in the good works of establishing peace and stability in Afghanistan and easing the problems of its people.
Today, the government of Uzbekistan is taking initiatives and practical actions to solve problems in the region and establish cooperation between countries. If we consider the construction of Mazari Sharif-Kabul-Peshowar railway alone, this project will be of great importance not only in the economy of the three countries but also in Central Asian countries.
This kind of unselfish help unites our people and strengthens our mutual relations. The Afghan people are certainly interested in this. Once again, I express my sincere thanks," he said in an interview with the "Uzbekistan24" TV channel.
The shipment consists of 48 tons of flour, 30 tons of sugar, 48 tons of wheat, 15 tons of vegetable oil, 10,000 pieces of canned meat products, 22 tons of pasta, 1,000 pairs of men's and children's outerwear, 1,000 consists of pairs of children's, men's and women's shoes.
