The President of the Council of Europe, Charles Michel, has arrived in Uzbekistan before participating at the CA-EU summit in Astana on October 27.
It is slated that the European politician will hold talks President touching upon a wide range of issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation of the country with the European Union.
The high-ranking guest will also visit the city of Samarkand.
Charles Michel is a Belgian and European statesman and politician presiding over the Council of Europe since December 1, 2019.
Uzbekistan's relations with the European Union began on April 15, 1992, with the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the government of Uzbekistan and the European Commission. In June 1996, the Partnership and Cooperation Agreement between the European Union and Uzbekistan was signed in Florence at the level of heads of state.
The current agreement on Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation between Uzbekistan and the European Union was signed on July 6, 2022.
