Due to the war in Ukraine, in 2022, the number of people living below the poverty line in Uzbekistan will exceed 179,000. 89,500 of them will be children. This assessment is given in the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) report on the consequences of war for 22 countries in Eastern Europe and Central Asia.

According to UNICEF, the number of poor people in these countries will increase by more than 10mn people, 4mn of them will be children.
According to the fund, the number of people below the poverty line is the largest in Russia - more than 8.3mn people. About 2.9mn of them will be children.
In Ukraine, the number of people living below the poverty line will increase by 472,000 people. The report notes that this estimate is based on the assumption that Ukraine's GDP will decrease by 10 percent in 2022.
