The head of the presidential administration, Sardor Umrzakov, criticized the violations of the law in cotton harvesting and called them traitors, during the video conference.
"We have warned the regional officials to organize smooth work on the prevention of forced labour in cotton fields. Still, news about the cotton harvest is spreading on social networks every day. It seems that collecting money from businessmen and ordinary public service employees to organize so-called “hashar” is gaining ground again.
Any head engaged in this work can be considered a traitor to the policies of the president.
The Prosecutor General's Office (Nigmatilla Tolkinovich) should immediately file the case against the perpetrators with no hesitation. Together with regional prosecutors, you should uphold the rule of law," Umrzakov said.
