Uzbekistan and Vietnam have signed a new Plan of Practical Measures for the Development of Trade and Economic Cooperation for 2025–2026. The agreement was formalized on April 5 during a meeting between Ilzat Kasymov, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade of Uzbekistan, and Phan Thi Thang, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of Vietnam.

The plan outlines concrete steps to boost bilateral trade, deepen investment partnerships, and enhance cooperation across multiple sectors. It also includes preparations for the eighth meeting of the Uzbek-Vietnamese Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, and Scientific-Technical Cooperation, set to take place in the third quarter of this year.
During the meeting, both sides emphasized the importance of expanding collaboration in energy, geology, transportation, and tourism. Ongoing projects with leading Vietnamese companies were highlighted, including Mareven Food Holdings, which is producing food products in Akhangaran district of Tashkent region, and ROX Group, which is developing multifunctional residential complexes in Uzbekistan.

The two deputy ministers agreed to intensify efforts to ensure the high-quality organization of upcoming visits and discussions at various levels, aiming to solidify long-term strategic economic cooperation between the two countries.
Uzbekistan and Vietnam are deepening ties across a wide range of sectors, with trade and investment steadily growing. Vietnam imports Uzbek products like fertilizers, cotton, textiles, leather, and footwear, while supplying Uzbekistan with computers, electronics, timber, and rubber.

Dr. Tulanbay Kurbanov, an international relations expert and member of the Uzbekistan Journalists Union, notes that five Vietnamese-backed investment projects are currently being implemented in Uzbekistan. Valued at a total of $4.4mn, these initiatives focus on areas like animal and fish feed production, aquaculture, and sericulture.
Agriculture, in particular, is becoming a key pillar of cooperation. Uzbekistan has expressed a strong interest in expanding freshwater fish farming and is looking to Vietnam—known for its experience in this field—for collaboration and knowledge exchange. This growing partnership reflects both countries’ desire to combine strengths and create new opportunities in sustainable food production and rural development.
