Uzbekistan-based airline Qanot Sharq has expanded its fleet with the delivery of a third wide-body Airbus A330-200 passenger aircraft. The aircraft arrived at Tashkent International Airport on October 2 and was previously operated by Vietnam Airlines and Russia's Nordwind.
This 2011-vintage aircraft, with factory serial number MSN 1266 and powered by PW4168A engines, is now wet-leased from the Turkish charter carrier Southwind Airlines, which registered the aircraft under Turkish registration number TC-GRB.
Qanot Sharq plans to utilize the 312-seat airliner to enhance its international route network. The airline announced that it would soon operate flights to Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and new destinations in Thailand and Vietnam, among others.
In late 2023, Qanot Sharq received its first two Airbus A330-200s, which are currently on long-term wet lease to Uzbekistan's largest airline, state-owned Uzbekistan Airways.
The airline's fleet also includes narrow-body aircraft, featuring two A320ceos and two A321neos. Notably, one of these narrow-body aircraft is currently operating flights for another private Uzbek carrier, Centrum Air.
Earlier, Qanot Sharq, along with Air Samarkand and My Freighter (operating under the Centrum Air brand), was announced as one of the new airlines planning to launch flights to South Korea.
