Since 2019, Air Products and Chemicals Inc. has invested $1.15bn in Uzbekistan, executing three major projects across various regions, according to the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade. These initiatives include hydrogen production at the Fergana Refinery and liquid carbon dioxide production at Navoiazot.

On April 2, Laziz Kudratov, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investment, Industry, and Trade, met with Eduardo Menezes, the CEO of Air Products, in Samarkand ahead of the Central Asia-European Union Summit to discuss the progress of ongoing projects and explore new areas for collaboration.
The two sides focused on optimizing the utilization of existing projects and highlighted the significant progress of Air Products’ current ventures.

The company is also launching oxygen and nitrogen production at the MTO (methanol to olefin) complex in Bukhara, having already invested over $200mn. This project aims to supply methanol and olefins for key industries such as plastics, automotive, and construction.
In addition to the ongoing projects, new initiatives were proposed, including CO₂ capture and storage, aviation fuel production, and coal gasification. The meeting concluded with both parties affirming their readiness to deepen cooperation and work together on both completing current projects and launching new, promising ventures.
