Pakistan criticized Germany for failing to protect its consulate in Frankfurt, which was stormed and vandalized by numerous protesters reportedly carrying Afghanistan's national flag on July 20. The incident prompted a strong response from the Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs on July 21.
The social media videos showed protesters with the Afghan tricolour flag, scaling the fence to enter the consulate premises, and removing the Pakistani flag. The protesters reportedly shouted abuses and hurled stones at the diplomatic facility. Diplomatic sources and witnesses in Frankfurt confirmed the video's authenticity, although the exact reason behind the protest remains unknown.

The Pakistani Embassy in Berlin condemned the attack, describing it as a "reprehensible vandalizing act." A post on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) indicated that the embassy was in contact with German authorities to prevent future incidents and ensure that the perpetrators face legal consequences.
The Pakistani Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on German authorities to arrest and prosecute those involved in the attack and address the security lapses. "We also urge the German authorities to take immediate measures to arrest and prosecute those involved in yesterday's (July 21) incident and hold to account those responsible for the lapses in security," the statement said.
Following the incident, the Pakistani Embassy in Berlin urged Pakistani nationals in Germany to remain patient and calm.
German authorities reported a growing association between Afghan asylum-seekers and criminal activities within the country. In response, officials announced in June that they are contemplating the resumption of deportations for those involved in criminal behaviour in Afghanistan.
Earlier, Daryo reported that the country is currently in discussions with Uzbekistan about a potential migration agreement that could involve the deportation of Afghan asylum seekers. The objective is to circumvent direct negotiations with the Taliban. Following the death of a German police officer at the hands of an Afghan citizen in Mannheim, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz announced that Germany is engaging with Afghanistan's neighbouring countries to facilitate the deportation process of Afghan migrants.
