Uzbekistan has launched a new trade house in Mazar-i-Sharif, northern Afghanistan, aiming to strengthen economic cooperation and expand trade opportunities, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported.

The facility, spanning 220 square meters, provides a dedicated showroom for pharmaceutical products, electrical equipment, and building materials, alongside a warehouse to support trade logistics.
The initiative is expected to serve as a "convenient platform" for Uzbek entrepreneurs seeking access to the Afghan market, boosting exports and fostering business partnerships.
During the visit, Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Davron Vakhabov toured the Nasaji Textile Factory, one of Afghanistan’s oldest and largest textile enterprises.

Talks with its management resulted in agreements on cotton fiber and yarn supplies to Uzbekistan, as well as increased exports of Afghan textiles and semi-finished products. Discussions also covered experience-sharing initiatives and potential production expansion.
Vakhabov further engaged with Baglan Sugar Company, a key player in Afghanistan’s sugar industry, to explore technological cooperation, raw material imports, and sugar product exports. Both sides agreed to deepen production ties and enhance trade relations.
This development follows ongoing efforts by Uzbekistan and Afghanistan to establish a trade zone and collaborate on hydrocarbon projects, reinforcing economic integration between the two nations.
In January 2025, trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan soared to $153.7mn, up from $46.3mn in 2024 and $52.7mn in 2023. Exports rose to $104.2mn, surpassing $45.5mn in 2024 and $52.4mn in 2023. Imports experienced a notable jump, reaching $49.5mn in 2025, compared to just $0.8mn in 2024 and $0.3mn in 2023.
