A public-private partnership agreement was signed for the project “Reconstruction and Modernization of Bishkek Wastewater Treatment Facilities” at the Bishkek City Hall conference room. The agreement involves Bishkekvodokanal municipal enterprise and a consortium of companies, SFC Investment Development for Environment Corporation and Phu Dien Investment Construction and Trading from Vietnam, 24.kg reports.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Mayor of Bishkek, Aibek Dzhunushaliev, who emphasized that the project will be closely monitored to ensure high-quality implementation. The Mayor highlighted the importance of addressing public concerns and installing modern equipment.
The project aims to comprehensively reconstruct and modernize wastewater treatment facilities by adopting advanced technologies. Key activities under the initiative include:
- Upgrading the laboratory with advanced equipment for water quality analysis.
- Replacing outdated chlorination technology with an ultraviolet disinfection system.
- Automating the wastewater treatment control processes.
The project is expected to achieve the following objectives:
- Ensuring treated wastewater complies with national and European environmental standards.
- Minimizing environmental impact through the introduction of an odor treatment system.
The Bishkek City Hall stated that housing and utilities sector development remains a priority, with an emphasis on attracting private investment to improve urban infrastructure and enhance the quality of life for residents.
