The Ambassador of Uzbekistan, Ashraf Khujaev, held discussions on May 11, with Qatar's Minister of Education and Higher Education, Buthaina bint Ali Al-Nuaimi. The meeting, as reported by a correspondent of Dunyo news agency, delved into various pertinent issues aimed at enhancing educational exchanges and collaborations between the two nations.
One of the focal points of the discussion was the allocation of quotas for Uzbek students in Qatari universities and the subsequent increase in their numbers. Both parties underscored the importance of facilitating educational opportunities for students from Uzbekistan, emphasizing the need for reciprocal exchanges between schools and higher educational institutions in both countries.
The parties also explored avenues for organizing joint educational programs and scientific projects. Minister Buthaina bint Ali Al-Nuaimi emphasized the strengthening bilateral relations between Qatar and Uzbekistan, citing her recent visit to the exhibition of Uzbek crafts in Doha as a testament to the rich historical heritage of Uzbekistan and its significant contributions to world civilization.
Minister Al Nuaimi proposed the establishment of mutual exchanges between high school students, citing a successful past collaboration where a group of Qatari school-age children visited Tashkent and Samarkand in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture of Qatar. Expressing interest in continuing such exchanges on an ongoing and mutual basis, the Qatari side highlighted the importance of nurturing cultural understanding and appreciation among the youth.
The proposal to conduct joint scientific research in contemporary relevant areas garnered support from both sides.
As a result of the fruitful negotiations, an agreement was reached to explore the possibility of organizing a forum of rectors from Uzbekistan and the Arab Gulf countries. Additionally, both parties expressed their intent to continue dialogue on various other educational projects
