President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan held a meeting with Qatar's Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdurrahman Al Thani, on April 15. The Qatari delegation was in Uzbekistan for a meeting of foreign ministers from the Arab States of Central Asia, presidential press service reported.
Prime Minister Al Thani conveyed greetings from Qatar's Emir, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, to President Mirziyoyev. Discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in trade, economy, investment, and transportation.
Both leaders expressed satisfaction with the growing political dialogue and increasing trade and investment between the two countries. They highlighted major investment projects involving Qatar's companies and plans for cultural exchanges, including Qatar Culture Week in Uzbekistan in October.
Earlier Daryo reported that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, visited Uzbekistan on December 19, 2023 to participate in the presentation of the prestigious International Anti-Corruption Award. Established by the Emir in 2016, this award honors exceptional individuals, including public figures, experts, and journalists, for their unwavering dedication to combating corruption worldwide.
