"China can force Putin to stop the war", Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski said that China will play an important role in ending the war in Ukraine. The minister said this in an interview with BBC. He emphasized that China could compel Putin to halt the war by making him realize that the financial losses and human costs incurred would prevent him from achieving his objectives.
He expressed the belief that China, along with other mediators such as Turkey and the UN, could play a significant role in resolving the conflict. However, Sikorski noted a lack of indications that Putin is inclined towards negotiation at present.
Regarding the European Union's involvement, Sikorski suggested that more could be done, especially in terms of providing military aid to Ukraine. Despite already surpassing the United States in aid provision, the EU could increase its support to Ukraine, according to the Polish foreign minister.
Sikorski acknowledged that it might take time for Putin to acknowledge the limitations of the conflict, particularly in terms of its costs and outcomes. However, he remains hopeful that with the involvement of key mediators like China and increased support from the EU, there could be a path towards a resolution and cessation of hostilities in Ukraine.
