Global IT spending is projected to reach $5.1 trillion in 2024, marking an 8% increase from the previous year, according to a study by Gartner reported by Kommersant. The largest portion of this spending, totaling $1.6 trillion, will be allocated to communication services. Despite a growth rate of 4.3%, this segment maintains its position as the primary focus of IT investments.
Following closely behind is the IT services sector, expected to reach $1.5 trillion in spending, reflecting a notable 9.7% increase. This growth is attributed to investments aimed at enhancing business organization efficiency and optimization. Software spending is anticipated to exceed $1 trillion, with a growth rate of 13.9%, securing its place among the top three categories.
Despite the growing interest in artificial intelligence (AI), Gartner suggests that global spending on AI technologies will not significantly alter the overall growth trajectory of IT spending worldwide. Traditional business factors such as profit optimization and cost reduction continue to drive the industry.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan announced ambitious plans to expand its IT services exports. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev revealed that the country aims to double its IT services exports to $5 bn, highlighting a strong commitment to the sector's growth.
Additionally, Uzbekistan plans to increase the number of IT Park residents tenfold, creating approximately 10,000 new jobs within the sector.
