In recent years, Uzbekistan has swiftly ascended to become the most business-friendly country in Central Asia, drawing attention from investors worldwide. The nation's strategic location, ongoing economic reforms, and abundant natural resources have combined to create an increasingly favorable environment for business ventures. This sentiment was echoed at the International Investment Forum in Tashkent, where a panel session titled "Why Invest in Uzbekistan?" shed light on the country's burgeoning investment opportunities.
Moderated by Sean McEllin, National Economic Development Project Consultant at Saviday, the panel featured notable speakers from various sectors, each offering insights into Uzbekistan's evolving landscape.
Mehmet Arif Ozozan, CEO of the UCC Holding cluster, underscored the remarkable progress witnessed in Uzbekistan, stating,
"Since I arrived, there have been tremendous positive developments in commitment to work, leadership, and vision. Uzbekistan is a very open country, and a friendly atmosphere for investors has been formed here."
Raad Al-Saady, Vice-Chairman of ACWA Power, highlighted the strategic partnership between Qatar and Uzbekistan, emphasizing their shared vision for long-term investment across diverse sectors.
"Our strategic goal is not only to invest in the energy sector but also to be active in other areas such as transport, aviation, and infrastructure," Al-Saady remarked.
The discussion also illuminated Uzbekistan's strategic advantages, including its growing consumer market, strategic location along major transport corridors, and tariff-free access to the EU market for over 6,000 products. These factors, combined with the nation's rich natural resources and commitment to economic reform, position Uzbekistan as an attractive destination for investors seeking sustainable growth opportunities.
Omar N. Al Midani, President and CEO of Vision Invest, echoed the sentiments of his fellow panelists, praising Uzbekistan's hospitality, cleanliness, and organizational efficiency.
"The country turned out to be very clean, safe, and organized," Al Midani remarked.
He commended Uzbekistan's foresight in governance and emphasized the transformative changes witnessed since 2017, drawing parallels with Saudi Arabia's own transformation.
