The first meeting of the Russian-Kyrgyz working group on climate issues convened in Russia's Moscow. The meeting was led by Dmitry Volvach, Deputy Minister of Economic Development of Russia, and Mirslav Amankulov, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision of Kyrgyzstan.
The meeting focused on reviewing the key stages in the development of the climate agenda for each country, action plans to increase energy efficiency, and the importance of utilizing new technologies. It also addressed the need for developing systems to monitor and forecast climate changes to enable the implementation of effective climate change mitigation measures.
Nikita Kondratyev, Director of the Department of Multilateral Economic Cooperation and Special Projects at the Russian Ministry of Economic Development invited Kyrgyz representatives to "formulate requests on current areas of cooperation in the field of climate change and the implementation of Russian practices."
Bermet Omurova, Head of the International Cooperation Department at the Kyrgyz Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology and Technical Supervision, emphasized the importance of continuing dialogue with Russian experts to enhance skill development, deploy advanced technologies, including artificial intelligence, and effectively implement energy efficiency improvements across various economic sectors.
The meeting concluded with an agreement to compile a list of promising areas for bilateral cooperation to ensure focused and practical interaction moving forward.
