In a development for the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan, international company Doppelmayr has announced plans to invest €10 mn in the construction of an aerial cable car, as reported by UzA. The agreement between Denov Oltin Don and Doppelmayr was sealed during a visit by the khokim (governor) of the Surkhandarya region to Hungary. The planned cable car will span a length of 1,200 meters, providing visitors with breathtaking views of the surrounding gorge.
At the summit of the cable car route, an array of amenities and attractions are set to be developed. These include an observation deck to admire the natural beauty of the region, as well as guest houses constructed with lightweight materials to offer comfortable accommodation options for tourists. Additionally, plans include the establishment of a restaurant to cater to visitors, alongside areas dedicated to recreational activities such as horseback riding, camel riding, sports facilities, family picnics, and spaces ideal for capturing memorable selfies.
Construction of the cableway is slated to commence imminently, with the project expected to be operational within the current year, promising an influx of visitors and bolstering the region's tourism sector. The initiative reflects the Surkhandarya region's commitment to fostering economic growth and attracting investment opportunities, as evidenced by the signing of 18 documents totaling $124.2 mn during the recent visit. Among these documents are six cooperation agreements, nine investment agreements, and three import agreements, underscoring the diverse range of partnerships being forged to stimulate development across various sectors.
