Chinese investors propose $4bn investment in 22 projects in Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan has initiated a three-year program to improve irrigation systems by concreting the South Mirzachul and Tuyatortar canals. This program aims to modernize critical infrastructure supporting the agricultural sector, as was disclosed by presidential press service on April 9.
To accommodate these investments, Uzbekistan plans to establish an industrial technopark in the Zomin district, along with branches of the Jizzakh industrial zone in the Shodlik neighborhood of Zarbdar and the industrial zone in the Chimkurgan neighborhood of Zafarabad. Additionally, the Tokchilik neighborhood in the Sharof Rashidov district will be included in this initiative.
Earlier Daryo reported about the establishment of a solar power facility in the Farish region through cooperation with Chinese firms. Valued at $350 mn, this 500-megawatt plant is anticipated to generate 1.1 bn kilowatt-hours of renewable energy each year, providing electricity to around 450,000 households. The initial stage, comprising 200 megawatts, is slated for activation later in the current year.
