Turkmenistan's Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov has met with the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Josep Borrell in Brussels, Belgium.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reports that parties touched upon the issues of organizing the next meeting of the heads of foreign affairs agencies of the EU-Central Asia format in Turkmenistan this year.
In addition, a detailed exchange of views took place on aspects of regional security, where Meredov emphasized the efforts and initiatives of the government of Turkmenistan in this direction, based on the principles of its status of permanent neutrality.
Turkmenistan shares land borders with Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. On the Caspian Sea, it borders Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan and Russia.
Particular attention has been paid to strengthening inter-regional links. Energy, transport, digitalization, education and climate were highlighted among the promising areas.
The importance of bilateral mechanisms such as the EU-Turkmenistan Joint Committee, the human rights dialogue and the interparliamentary dialogue was emphasized.
