Kyrgyz Energy Minister Talaibek Ibraev met with Turkmenistan's Ambassador Nury Golliev in Bishkek.
According to Turkmenistan's Foreign Ministry, the two sides expressed interest in deepening partnership in the fields of energy and trade. "There was an exchange of views on promising projects in the oil and gas sector."
Ibraev expressed gratitude for the humanitarian cargo sent earlier.
Turkmenistan sent 2,000 tonnes of liquefied natural gas free of charge to the Kyrgyz Republic following an accident at Bishkek's thermal power plant on 2 February. The Kyrgyz capital has experienced difficulties with heating and hot water supply.
Experts told Daryo that Turkmenistan has been a major supplier of electricity to the country (via Uzbekistan) since August 2021. Kyrgyzstan also imports petrol, aviation kerosene and textiles. Turkmenistan buys electrical equipment, agricultural products and food.
Turkmenistan has recently expressed great interest in the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway project.
