On March 5, a new milestone was reached as Uzbekistan and Liechtenstein formalized diplomatic ties with the signing of a joint communiqué in New York, Dunyo reports.
Official Signing
The document, undersigned by Ulugbek Lapasov, the Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to the UN, and Christian Weinweiser, the Permanent Representative of Liechtenstein to the UN, represents a commitment from both governments to establish diplomatic relations.
Both parties expressed their readiness to enhance cooperation within international organizations, particularly the UN and its specialized institutions. The communiqué highlights a mutual desire to strengthen ties in political, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.
Expansion of Relations
The signing of this document marks a crucial step towards fostering closer cooperation between Uzbekistan and European nations. Liechtenstein's inclusion as the 146th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan underscores the growing significance of diplomatic engagement on a global scale.
This development follows closely on the heels of another diplomatic breakthrough for Uzbekistan. On January 18, the country signed a joint communiqué with Uganda in Kampala, marking Uganda as the 145th country to establish diplomatic relations with Uzbekistan.
