The Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan (UIET) reports that its representatives met with a World Bank (WB) delegation in Ashgabat. The meeting was devoted to attracting investment in the private sector of the country's economy.
The parties noted the great potential for implementing joint business projects in agriculture and the food industry. "The guests highly appreciated Turkmenistan's achievements in the development of the agricultural sector and its export potential".
Experts from the international financial institution visited modern greenhouse complexes, horticultural farms and agricultural enterprises in the Akhal and Mary regions of the country.
The aim of the UIET is to create import-substituting and export-oriented industries, ensure Turkmenistan's food security and create new jobs. UIET has established a joint-stock commercial bank, Rysgal, and opened representative offices in China, the United Arab Emirates and Austria.
The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) has previously reported plans to create a digital land registry for Turkmenistan. The project is expected to help strengthen land management and develop small family farms.
