Abdusalam Khatamov, a seasoned diplomat with a rich career spanning over three decades, has been appointed as the new ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman, Dunyo reports. This appointment marks a new chapter in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
Career and Achievements
Khatamov, 52, is a distinguished diplomat who has served in various capacities within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan. He began his career in 1993 in the state structures of the Bukhara region and later taught Arabic language at Bukhara State University.
In 1999, Khatamov joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he held various positions in the Bukhara Department of the MFA, the Consular Department, the Consular Legal Department, and the embassies in Egypt and Saudi Arabia.
From 2018 to 2024, Khatamov headed the Consulate General of Uzbekistan in Ekaterinburg, Russia, contributing significantly to the strengthening of Uzbekistan-Russia relations.
Khatamov is a graduate of the Tashkent State Institute of Oriental Studies, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in Asia, specializing in Oriental studies.
Looking Forward
Khatamov replaces Anvar Abduhalimov, who served as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Oman from 2018 to 2021. As Khatamov takes on this new role, it is expected that he will continue to strengthen the diplomatic ties between Uzbekistan and Oman, building on the solid foundation laid by his predecessor.
