On February 2, Uzbekistan's Prime Minister, Abdulla Aripov, addressed the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council meeting held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The meeting, attended by heads of government from Belarus, Kazakhstan, Russia, and the first deputy head of the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan, focused on reviewing past collaborations and outlining future plans.
The Prime Minister proposed initiating the formulation of a new program document for the upcoming period, aiming to expand Uzbekistan's practical involvement in the EAEU's multilateral programs and projects. Aripov specifically mentioned Uzbekistan's participation in EAEU industry projects related to simplifying cross-border procedures, multimodal transport, the climate agenda, and e-commerce.
Aripov extended an invitation to EAEU countries to ensure the full functioning of the free trade regime in agricultural products. He suggested holding consultations among relevant ministers to develop specific measures for the full functioning of green corridors and free trade in agricultural products without resorting to tariff and non-tariff restrictions.
While acknowledging current interactions in the agricultural sector, Aripov pointed out that the level "still does not allow for a prompt response to the threat to food security." To address this, he proposed signing a document between Uzbekistan and the EAEU on the electronic exchange of information on goods and means of transportation in international transport.
