Premier Li Qiang of China and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov met in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province on October 8, during the closing ceremony of the 19th Asian Games. The leaders discussed enhancing cooperation between the two nations, with a focus on the Belt and Road initiative, development strategy alignment, and mutually beneficial collaborations across various sectors.
Li emphasized the close ties between China and Uzbekistan as neighboring nations and expressed China's willingness to translate key agreements between the heads of state into practical actions. He also stressed the need to advance Belt and Road cooperation, maximize the role of the intergovernmental cooperation committee, align development strategies, expand economic and trade ties, boost connectivity, and enhance energy collaboration.
Furthermore, Premier Li reaffirmed China's support for Uzbekistan's national sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He encouraged more Chinese companies to invest and conduct business in Uzbekistan, including support for the establishment of an innovative economic zone. The premier also emphasized the importance of strengthening people-to-people exchanges and cooperation in areas such as education, culture, tourism, sports, and healthcare.
Li highlighted China's commitment to working with Central Asian countries, including Uzbekistan, to implement the outcomes of the China-Central Asia Summit. This includes cooperation in essential areas like investment, trade, and connectivity, aimed at building a closer China-Central Asia community with a shared future.
Prime Minister Aripov congratulated China on the successful hosting of the Hangzhou Asian Games and acknowledged China's remarkable achievements in economic and social development. Uzbekistan highly values its comprehensive strategic partnership with China, adheres to the one-China principle, and actively participates in the Belt and Road initiative.
Aripov expressed Uzbekistan's readiness to learn from China's experience in deepening reforms, expanding openness, and pursuing Chinese-style modernization. He emphasized the importance of cooperation based on equality, friendship, and mutual benefit across various fields. Uzbekistan is eager to collaborate with China in combating terrorism, separatism, and extremism and to elevate the Uzbek-Chinese relationship to new heights.
