A meeting was held at BOTAŞ headquarters, with the participation of delegation of Turkmengaz concern, short and long-term cooperation opportunities were discussed.
During the meetings, the strong ties between Turkmenistan and Türkiye were emphasized and BOTAŞ's determination and desire to deliver Turkmen gas to Türkiye was expressed in line with the political will of the leaders of the two countries.
BOTAŞ is ready to provide all kinds of support to the Turkmen side in order to realize this goal was emphasized and the importance of maintaining constant communication between the two state-owned companies in order to bring Turkmen gas to Turkish and the world markets was underlined.
Turkmenistan has the world's fourth largest natural gas reserves and is home to the world's largest onshore gas field, Galkynysh.
Experts told Daryo that a 300km pipeline across the Caspian Sea could link Turkmenistan to the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC), through which Azerbaijan already supplies gas to Europe.
The project could increase the competitiveness of the SGC and contribute significantly to the creation of a gas hub in Thrace (Türkiye).
Caspian Iran, in turn, offers Turkmenistan access to alternative markets through its territory on the basis of gas swaps.
At present, Turkmen gas is purchased by China, the main importer, Russia and Uzbekistan. In addition to the European direction, Ashgabat is promoting the project of a gas pipeline to South Asia.
