The Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Murat Nurtleu, embarked on his inaugural official visit to Bishkek at the invitation of the Kyrgyz side on January 29, MFA reported.
In talks with Kyrgyz Foreign Minister Jeenbek Kulubayev, a comprehensive array of issues spanning political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, and humanitarian spheres were deliberated. The discussions emphasized a mutual commitment to fortify the alliance based on friendship, brotherhood, respect, and good neighborliness.
Minister Nurtleu underscored the significance of advancing confidential dialogue at the highest levels. Special attention was given to implementing agreements forged during President Sadyr Japarov's state visit to Kazakhstan in March 2021 and President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev's official visit to Kyrgyzstan in May 2022.
"Our countries are reliable allies, very close and fraternal states. We are bound by unbreakable bonds of friendship, centuries-old history, close languages, and close family roots," Nurtleu stated, highlighting the deep historical and cultural ties.
Kyrgyzstan stands as one of Kazakhstan's primary trading partners within the CIS and the EAEU. Minister Nurtleu affirmed that Kazakhstan remains among Kyrgyzstan's top three largest trading partners.
The ministers applauded the positive momentum in mutual trade, reaching $1.3bn in the first 11 months of 2023. A commitment was made to broaden economic collaboration and work towards elevating mutual trade volumes to $2bn. Minister Kulubayev affirmed that the relations between the two countries have evolved into deepened allied relations, marking a qualitative shift.
The discussions delved into expanding cooperation in mutual investments, transport and logistics, energy, water resources, and digitalization through the development and launch of joint projects.The ministers synchronized efforts on regional and international issues, citing constructive interaction and mutual support within international organizations.
A significant outcome of the negotiations was the signing of a Cooperation Program between the foreign ministries of Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan for 2024-2026.
Minister Nurtleu also participated in a wreath-laying ceremony at the Ata-Beyit Memorial Complex, dedicated to victims of repression, and at the grave of the renowned Kyrgyz poet Chinghiz Aitmatov.
