The trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan has exceeded $755mn since early 2023, with bilateral trade showing dynamic growth. The goal is to reach $2bn by year-end, focusing on strengthening ties in agriculture.
Reportedly, Kazakhstan exports flour, ice cream, mineral water, sunflower oil, and other products to Kyrgyzstan while importing mainly dairy products, vegetables, and fruits. Both countries are interested in continuing to sell on mutually beneficial terms.
Kazakhstan's government is implementing a development concept until 2030 to increase agricultural productivity and reduce import dependence on selected foodstuffs while increasing exports of products with high development potential.
About 700 investment projects are planned to increase production in the next five years.
The Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Karashukeyev, has invited businesses in Kyrgyzstan to collaborate on investment projects in the agro-industrial sector to facilitate the export of agricultural products to Kyrgyzstan and other third-party countries.
Kyrgyzstan's authorities have revealed a 31% increase in trade turnover for early vegetables and fruits following the bilateral agreement signed last year, focusing on further growth in this area.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Kyrgyzstan has banned the export of wheat and flour for six months to stabilize market prices and protect domestic food supply. Meanwhile, Kazakhstan's agro-industry has exported over $2.5bn, up 5% in six months.
